In this course, teachers see how assessment strategies can benefit their teaching practices and their students’ learning. They learn how to plan, develop and manage student-centered assessment. The course offers opportunities to apply the assessment concepts with action planning exercises.
489Q Going Mobile Capturing the Power of Smart Phones, Tablets, Apps, and More
Going Mobile is a course designed to introduce you to the concept of mobile learning. You will learn the what, why, where, when and how of implementing mobile learning in a classroom. The approach of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) will be examined. The advantages of using smart phones and tablets in the classroom will be discussed along with web tools and apps. You will also look at what revisions need to be made to your Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) to accommodate your mobile learning practices.

This course is designed to align with the school improvement efforts of teachers in the Francis Howell School District who have been involved in the development of Professional Learning Communities within their schools or grade levels. In this course, participants will design and implement a method for students to use when conducting research. The Language Arts Standards included in the Common Core place increased emphasis on students developing skills associated with effective research methods.
